It's a Tailgate! Come Watch & Learn With Your Neighbors!

The City is working on a plan to allow residents to participate in this crucial public hearing, however the City Hall chambers are not large enough for us all to be together. Therefore, we are planning a tailgate in the City Hall parking lot to allow all residents the option of sitting comfortably in our own lawn chairs, enjoying a potluck supper, watching the proceedings, and offering public comment at the appropriate time.

What to bring:

  • Lawn chair
  • Non-alcoholic refreshment (alcohol possession on public property prohibited by city ordinance)
  • Dish to share if desired

If you have tailgating stuff such as a small electric generator, television that can be placed on a table, and a mobile hotspot, please let us know when you click the Register button as shown here:

Speaking at the Meeting

We hope you can attend! Speaking in person is the most effective way to ensure your comments are included in the record. Click here to register to speak at the meeting!

Alternatively, you may also send an email to [email protected] and [email protected] with written comments. These may be included in the packet submitted to the Planning Board but will not be read into the record, and may not be individually considered given the volume of correspondence received.

You may also call and leave a voicemail (3 minutes or less) by calling 727.363.9225, or submit a video (also 3 minutes or less) to [email protected]. Note that voicemails and videos will be played at the beginning of the meeting and will not be part of the public record.

Note that voicemails, videos, and emails must be submitted 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

Hints for an Effective Presentation
  • When formulating your thoughts, consider that you, as a resident, are able to offer "expert testimony" on the character of our City. Our City's comprehensive plan instructs our city government to maintain and protect the "residential character" of St. Pete Beach -- what does residential character mean to you, in your own firsthand observations and experiences? How does this proposal change that character?
  • Consider your personal experience with things like traffic, city infrastructure, access to our beaches, and the natural environment. What information is missing from the proposal, or the city's response to the proposal, to allow us to understand this project's impact?
  • Keep your remarks within three (3) minutes. If you have more to say than you can communicate in 3 minutes, write out written testimony and provide six (6) paper copies to the City Clerk before you speak to be given the the board members and included in the record.
  • Stay positive -- the City Commissioners are our neighbors as well.
